This relaxed two-hour walking tour starts on the spot that gives Belfast its name and visits the nearby ‘Big Fish’ sculpture before walking along the riverside pathway to Sailortown, where 5000 people once lived, worked and set sail across the world.
Along the way we’ll explore the legacy of this incredibly rich and diverse part of Belfast’s history and hear the community’s plans for regenerating their area.
We’ll visit the amazing Sinclair Seamen’s Church with its fascinating collection of maritime memorabilia, St. Joseph’s church - now a vibrant community hub and arts venue and the magnificent Belfast Harbour Commissioners Building with its permanent exhibition ‘A Port That Built A City’ which documents the lives of the people of Sailortown, Belfast’s legacy as a major European port. Visitors will even get to see the famous Captain's Table destined for the Titanic but which missed its delivery deadline!
